On 20th April Italian Foreign Office Minister Alfano met the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mammadyarov. At the end of the meeting held at Farnesina Building in Rome,the Italian Minister informed Mammadyarov that Lazio regional administrative court (TAR) on Thursday rejected an appeal by the Apulia Region against a government order to uproot and replant olive trees for the construction of the TransAdriatic Pipeline (TAP). The TAP is set to bring Caspian gas from Azerbaijan to Europe. Under the plan, the olive trees will later be replanted in the same place. The verdict gives the possibility to continue the work of the Tap pipeline. The Italian national gas company SNAM participates in the project with 20% of its consortium.
